Track Biography:

The Mid-Antrim Hunt was formally set up in the 1870’s as a harrier pack, although it was in existence for at least a hundred years before that. It was believed to have had its first official meeting in The Thatch Pub in Broughshane in 1875.

The Mid Antrim point-to-point Course is just outside Moneyglass very close to Toomebridge. Toome or Toomebridge (from Irish: Tuaim, meaning "tumulus"), is a small village and townland on the northwest corner of Lough Neagh in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Moneyglass was at one time home to Malachy McCourt and his family who was the father of Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes, a winner of The Pulitzer Prize, the NBCC Award, The LA Times Award and the Royal Society of Literature Award.

Champion National Hunt jockey and 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner, Tony McCoy, who received an OBE in 2010, was born in Moneyglass.

Another sports star reared in Moneyglass was world famous Rugby Union player Willie John McBride who capped for Ireland on 63 occasions which includes 12 times as Captain.

CLODY DIAMOND was not beaten far on her debut at Dromahane in the spring and was still in contention when exiting at Taylorstown at the end of last season. That could see her have the edge over Festive Du Luy who failed to back up quickly in Inchydoney which can be forgiven. Of the newcomers, Adamas was a E55,000 purchase and represents leading connections.

SHINING MARBLE put up two relatively consistent performances towards the end of last season and that form should stand to him at this venue. Northanger Abbey had been sent off as the favourite for his debut in Borris House, whilst Chichester Park would likely have finished sixth on his debut in Loughanmore, but for falling at the final fence.

CITY SLIPPERS made much of the running at Ballingarry on the final weekend of last season, and only found one rival too strong in a race which saw the front pair pull well clear of their rivals. It would be no surprise to see him go one place better here. Jim The Wolf was unlucky around here in May, and with two previous placed efforts to his name, he should again enter the shake-up alongside Milan Forth, Nice To See You and Calda House.

CADOUDAL SAINT is back with the connections for whom he had made a winning debut at Farmacaffley back in February 2023 following a season with Willie Mullins. He did finish placed in a Limerick bumper, and so could be expected to regain the winning thread here. Ballysteen winner Fralimonti Bilbery ran a notable benchmark in this division close at Stradbally to suggest he should be knocking on the door alongside the 88-rated rated Brown Monday.

JOSIES DYLAN has finished second in three of his four starts since joining current connections and this could be an ideal opportunity for him to gain a deserved first success. Hornet Nolimit has been absent since October 2022 but is capable of getting involved, whilst it has been a while since Longhouse Star was last in action in the pointing fields, but this could be an opportunity for him to recapture his form.
