Track Biography:

Kinsale Point to Point along with running a two-day premier race meeting at the end of the point-to-point season also hold an Autumn fixture.

It's a great family day out, the racetrack has superb viewing with food, drink and entertainment.

The first official record of a South Union Foxhounds point-to-point race dates from 1945, when it was held at Warner’s Cross. In 1947, the races moved to Ballinrea near Carrigaline.

In more recent years, the races were held at Cappagh, very close to Kinsale, with winter fixtures at Rochestown.

The races moved to Fort Arthur on the Old Head of Kinsale briefly before alighting on the current site at Farrangalway in 2007.

Kinsale is the gourmet centre of Ireland ! Don’t forget to plan for some seriously good food in one of Kinsale’s award-winning restaurants such as Fishy Fishy, Bastion, The Blue Hazen and Finns Table, to name a few.

There is plenty else to do with activities in Kinsale range from sightseeing and walking to adventure sports, arts and culture. Check out Kinsale.ie for full details of attractions like Charles Fort.

There’s something for everyone – did you know Kinsale people are environmental pioneers, leading the way as a “Transition Town”? Or that Kinsale marks the start of the famous Wild Atlantic Way?

The Kinsale meeting held in the Spring marks the end of the Point-to-Point season, where jockey and trainer championships are decided, and there is great rivalry with horses competing from as far afield as Northern Ireland. Sunday also features family entertainment, with a hound parade, dog show, pony rides and best-dressed competitions, topped off with a concert.

Having sent out their first winner of the season in a similar event at Tattersalls last Sunday, GARCON DARGENT could continue that winning form in this age division as he went close in Dromahane at the back end of last season, beating subsequent winner Crypto Currency by seven lengths in the process. Dogem By Design represents another stable that were in the winners enclosure last weekend and he finished fourth in Moira on his debut which he can build on.

This has a very open look to it and it may be worth turning to one of the newcomers such as VIKINGS WAY who has an eye-catching pedigree being a full-brother of Vanillier, the winner of the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Of those with form, Likable Rogue is a 90-rated hurdler that has a number of respectable pieces of track form to his name, whilst Your Own Story stepped up from his debut in a bumper to finish fourth at Ballindenisk last term.

MACS LEGEND recorded his most recent success in this race last year and this would look an even easier option for him to kickstart his new campaign at the age of 13. We have not seen a lot of All Hell Let Loose of late but if he could recapture some of his points form from 2019 which saw him finish second on five starts on the bounce, he could be the most likely danger.

Despite having not been seen for 11 months, STRIKING OUT could be worth following on his return to action as he beat four subsequent maiden winners when opening his account at Turtulla last November it what would look the standout piece for form. Chato Santana and Susie Miller, two recent maiden winners, do have the advantage of recent race fitness which makes this an interesting contest.

SUM IT UP had seemed destined for the runners-up spot prior to his final fence departure at Castletown-Geoghegan and that recent run could give him the edge over I Often Wonder who has not been seen since he chased home Boro Melody at this venue last December. Portrush third Five Dollar Fine is another that cannot be discounted following his career best effort last time out.
