Track Biography:
The East Galway Foxhounds dates back from as far back as 1791.
In 2014 a brand new state of the art kennell complex was developed and financed by joint-master Joe Cavanagh and handed over to the hunt recently.
The East Galway Hunt have a long association with point-to-pointing and this will be their first year at Stowlin with the kind permission of Billy Treacy.

How To Get There
By Road
From Dublin - From the M50 travel on M4 and M6 towards Galway. Take Exit 15 from the M6 onto the R355. Travel on the R355 to your destination. There will be signs posted to track.
From Galway - From Galway Ctiy take the M6 towards Dublin/Limerick. At junction 16, take the N65 exit to Portumna/Loghrea. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the N65. Stay on the N65 and there will be signs posted to the track.

We have free parking for spectators and sections that can be used to facilitate disabled parking with clear views of the track.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.
We also have plenty of shelter in our catering marquee should the odd spell occur.

Our outside food caterers are located beside the parade ring and bookies and they sell an array of hot food options such as burgers, chips, sausages and chicken goujons.
Also if you would like a treat during your days racing there will also be a cake stand, selling lots of delicious treats!
All patrons are welcome to pack a picnic style lunch to enjoy during the races.

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees and soft drinks from our outside catering outlet.
We also will have a bar at the track and there will be live music throughout the day.
No, there is no official dress code but we advise race goers to stay warm and dry and dress according to the weather.
Yes, we allow dogs but would ask that they are kept on their leads at all times whilst at the track.
Yes, of course we welcome picnics for all the family to enjoy.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
We will also have bouncing castles on the day to keep our younger race goers entertained.
No, we do not provide an ATM on track. The nearest ATM is at Portumna and Ballinasloe which you pass coming to the track.

East Galway Hunt point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in the countryside.
Race goers have the opportunity to get a close up of the action when the runners are being saddled and paraded in the parade ring before their race.

MOSS MONDITO made up a lot eye-catching late ground on her debut at Rathcannon, and whilst she did finish fourth, there was only a blanked covering the quartet as the crossed the finishing line, and it leaves her as the one to beat. Donnchadh Doyle won the similar four-year-old mares maiden at Fairyhouse last Sunday and could be represented by Fantasia Roque who is a well-bred type that was third at Inch on her debut, whilst the other likely threat is Beth Horan. The Gigginstown House Stud-owned mare that was third to the record-breaking My Whirlwind on her debut.

FACE THE ODDS was only beaten by four lengths when he made his debut at Lisronagh and he would seem to one to beat in this. The Colin Bowe-trained POUR UNE RAISON is the obvious alternative, having finished third on his debut in a very competitive race at Quakerstown. No match for the impressive The Big Breakaway, he should return an improved sort. Oscer Romero ran a solid race at Inch, whilst Kildimo was sent off as the favourite for his debut which came in an auction race at Dromahane.

Having been patiently ridden, she made up a lot of late ground and will be a very interesting prospect here if turned out again quickly. The Robert Tyner pair of Emily Roebling and Natural Fit both filled the runners-up spot on their latest appearances, whilst Shallue Run, Somethingboutangela and Loughaderra Flame are others that cannot be discounted.

The Denis Leahy yard won a similar race at Dromahane last Sunday, and their representative in this, ROBIN IS READY, would seem to be the standout performer in this having finished in front of a subsequent maiden winner when second on his debut at Templencarriga back in January. Cormac Farrell is another handler that has enjoyed success within the last seven days, and his Another Tuco is the obvious danger after he fell at the last in Quakerstown when destined to be placed. Raised With Praise, Rockin Roxtown and Gold Sun are the others with previous placed form that are worth a second look.
